  • Nathan Cox, USMC, MBA Founder and CEO 68 Ventures

    Nathan is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of 68 Ventures.  After receiving an Honorable Discharge from the United States Marine Corps, where he served with the 3rd Bn 6th Marines as an Infantry Officer in Iraq, Nathan returned home to embark on a career centered around real estate.  Nathan founded Bellator Real Estate & Development in 2008, Truland Homes in 2011 and later brought them together under the Battle Plan Capital umbrella in 2012.  In 2016 he bought out his other partners, and created 68 Ventures to serve as his primary holding company moving forward.  The most recent operating businesses added to the 68V platform have been Thrive Title in 2017, Trulend Mortgage in 2018 and Align Insurance Group, Crucible Construction and Warrior 360 in 2019.  As CEO or 68 Ventures, he focuses his time on the development side of the business in conjunction with serving as the visionary for the respective companies.

    Nathan earned an MBA from the University of South Alabama and graduated summa cum laude with a BS in investment finance from the University of Alabama, where he was also a member of the football team from 2000 to 2003.  He obtained Academic All-SEC honors in both 2002 and 2003, and was recognized with the Paul “Bear” Bryant Award his senior year as the university’s most outstanding student-athlete.  He is a CCIM as well as an active member of the Southern 7 Chapter of the Young Presidents’ Organization.

    Nathan is passionate about spending time with his three children, traveling with his wife, leading charitable endeavors, exercising, seeking out different challenges, any form of competition and studying successful people.  He concentrates on staying true to his core values of faith, effort, gratitude, honor courage and commitment while striving to live out his personal purpose statement, “To see all I can do with all that I have been given by always going for it, never forgetting who I am in the process and helping everyone I can along my journey to live out a story worth telling.  On judgement day my life will have been deemed a success because I will be able to say, ‘I have nothing left.  I used everything you gave me.”

  • Drew Dolan, JD, MBA Chief of Staff 68Ventures

    Drew serves as Chief of Staff for 68 Ventures.  He focuses his efforts on providing support to the CEO, project management and strategic planning.  Drew also spends a significant amount of time working with internal business units, banks and investors on deal structure and execution, always working to get deals across the finish line in a timely manner.  Finally, Drew serves as the 68 Ventures business unit leader for Crucible Construction, our commercial construction company, and Limitless by Truland Homes, our custom home building company.  For those two entities, Drew assists with strategic direction, business planning, and driving financial performance.

    Prior to joining 68 Ventures, Drew worked as an attorney in the commercial real estate group at Maynard, Cooper & Gale in Birmingham, AL. At Maynard, Drew represented buyers, sellers, investors, developers, landlords and tenants in all types of real estate matters including acquisition, development and leasing transactions in markets throughout the United States.

    A native of Fairhope, AL, Drew attended the University of Alabama where he earned his Bachelor’s in Finance, Master’s in Business Administration, and law degree. Drew and his wife, Ashleigh, have two sons, Cayden and Carter, and enjoy spending time outdoors, especially on the water.

  • Brent Dudley COO 68 Ventures

    Brent serves as Chief Operating Officer for 68 Ventures and brings over 20 years of experience across various industries.  His efforts are focused on the day to day execution of operational strategy, ongoing business development, and driving efficiencies into all systems and processes.  In addition, Brent proactively pursues new opportunities and potential investors which best align with the purpose, values, vision, and strategy of 68 Ventures.

    Prior to joining the organization, Brent spent 12 years as an Executive within Accenture’s Corporate Development and Transaction Services group.  In this role he helped to drive the strategic and financial direction for the firm’s largest, most complex commercial arrangements with Fortune 500 companies.  He also helped to develop new businesses through joint ventures, alliances, and equity investment transactions.  Before joining Accenture, Brent worked for 8 years in a strategy consulting role within the technology market.  In this capacity, he was responsible for developing business process automation strategies, operationalizing corporate vision, and driving financial outcomes.

    A native of Fayetteville, GA, Brent attended the University of Georgia where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems and then later an MBA in Finance.  Brent loves spending time with his wife Jane and their two children, while traveling, camping, hanging out with family and friends, coaching youth sports, and staying involved with their community.

  • Brad Israel CLO 68Ventures

    Brad serves as Chief Leadership Officer for 68 Ventures and all its core companies.  Prior to joining the team, Brad was the Director of Development for a national real estate development firm, specializing in single tenant, freestanding retail buildings. Brad is committed to the study and application of leadership in all forms; this stems from his 12 years of military service as an officer in the U.S. Army Infantry and Special Operations Community. On 9.11, Brad took on the responsibility to serve his country and lead men in combat.  He has deployed all over the world as a Green Beret and spent over two years in combat in support of Operation Enduring Freedom – Afghanistan.

    Brad graduated magna cum laude with a BA from Hampden-Sydney College.  After returning to his hometown of Mobile, AL, Brad immediately got involved in the community by serving on the Mobile Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and is the Chairman for Military Affairs Committee.  He also serves on the advisory board for Synovus Bank and internationally with the Center for Expeditionary Economics. Brad is a 2017 Presidential Leadership Scholar and is passionate about speaking and consulting with companies and teams on leadership. Brad loves creating memories and experiences with his beautiful wife Anna, and three incredible boys through travel, adventure, the outdoors, and the community.

  • HR Harvey President 68 Ventures
    HR serves as the President of 68 Ventures. In this role, he oversees the Bellator Real Estate Brokerage and the related Real Estate entities of Thrive Title, Align Insurance Group, Trulend Mortgage, and the new Podium Property Management business. In addition, he is an advisor to the 68 Ventures Executive Team on strategic direction, financial performance, and methods to build long term corporate value.
    HR has over 35 years of professional experience focused in the retail and consumer business sectors. He has lead organizations through periods of exponential growth, is experienced in the development of business strategy, brand positioning and has been involved in companies transition to becoming public entities. Before joining the 68 team he was C.E.O. of Lifestyle Brands, the licensee for all non-food and beverage consumer products of Margaritaville. In addition, he was previously the President of the Frontgate and Grandinroad brands which are leading lifestyle direct to consumer businesses. He has also held leadership positions with Kirkland’s Home, Saks Department Store Group, Homeplace of America and Federated Department Stores ( Macy’s).
    HR is a member of the University of South Alabama RAMP program licensed by MIT to mentor small businesses and develop entrepreneurial capacity in the Mobile trading area. HR loves to travel enjoying new experiences with his family and is a college sports fan. He and his wife Allison live on the Eastern shore and attend the 3 Circle Church. Their daughter, Tylar attends the University of Alabama and son Devin, is attending the Florida State University College of Law. HR holds a BS in Finance from the University of Florida.
  • Chris Knight Controller 68Ventures

    Chris serves as Controller of 68Ventures. He focuses his efforts on capital allocation, financial management, risk management, accounting oversight and operations. Prior to joining 68Ventures, Chris worked as an auditor with a local CPA firm specializing in Governmental and Construction Industries.

    Chris was raised in Fairhope and enjoys spending time with his wife Melissa, who teaches at Fairhope High school and his Boykin Spaniel named Cooper. He graduated from Huntingdon College where he also played baseball. Chris and Melissa attend First Baptist Church of Fairhope and enjoy volunteering with the youth group as much as possible.

    In his spare time, Chris enjoys being outdoors, playing golf, running and grilling.

  • Ward Bourdeaux Chief Business Development Officer 68 Ventures
    Ward has over 25 years of entrepreneurial experience which is a core foundation of the 68 Ventures culture.  Ward brings an owner’s perspective to 68 Ventures as he identifies new business opportunities throughout the Gulf Coast region.  In addition to pursuing new investment opportunities, Ward also assists in capital formation, to further create long term value that is aligned with the 68 Ventures strategy. 

    Ward’s entrepreneurial experience includes the co-founding of two companies during the past twenty years, Cypress Communications (telecom/Internet services) and Scenique Properties (real estate development). At Cypress Communications, Ward helped the company grow nationally in over 25 markets, raise venture capital ($75M) and successfully complete an IPO in 2000 ($180M). At Scenique, Ward was a Managing Partner who worked on deals in Los Olivos/Santa Barbara County, CA, Blackberry Farm, TN, and St. Kitts BWI (now Christophe Harbour). In addition to Cypress and Scenique, he also has extensive experience in real estate and fiber optic related deals throughout the Southeast and Caribbean.
    Ward grew up in Atlanta, graduated from the University of Alabama, and spent most of his career in Atlanta before moving to Fairhope in 2019. He previously served on the Board of Reflections Ministries in Atlanta and The University of Alabama’s Entrepreneurship Institute Advisory Board. Ward enjoys spending time with his three children and loves any outdoor activities, especially those in the Caribbean. 
  • Mallory Higgs VP Marketing and Advertising 68 Ventures

    Mallory serves as the VP of Marketing and Advertising for 68 Ventures. She is responsible for overseeing marketing and advertising for 68 Ventures and its core companies.

    She graduated from the University of South Alabama in December of 2010 after completing her Bachelors in Marketing with an International Business concentration. Mallory also attended the University of Applied Sciences in Worms Germany. During her time abroad, Mallory traveled to many different countries and studied the difference in mannerisms and personal characteristics of different ethnicities and how they affect business relations.

    Mallory’s previous experience includes Truland Homes as the Marketing Director and Bellator Real Estate and Development as the Marketing Manager. She currently serves on the board for The American Advertising Federation’s Mobile Bay Chapter and is involved with Impact 100.

    In her free time, Mallory enjoys spending time with family and traveling the world.

  • Whitney Watson Paralegal 68 Ventures

    Whitney joined 68 Ventures in 2019 as Paralegal. Her past experience includes many years in the real estate industry where she served as a real estate agent and most recently as a closing agent with Thrive Title.

    Whitney grew up in Lucedale Mississippi and married her high school sweetheart, Jesse Watson. They have two girls, Elizabeth and Victoria, who both attend Cottage Hill Christian Academy.

    In her free time, Whitney enjoys traveling, reading, fishing and spending time with family.

  • Susan Riley Staff Accountant 68 Ventures

    Susan has served as the accountant for 68 Ventures since its inception, also having worked in the same capacity at Battle Plan Capital before it became 68V.  Susan has worked with and been associated with the Cox family for close to 18 years.

    Susan graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in accounting.  She and her husband Fred, live in Mobile, AL.  They have 5 children and 1 precious granddaughter.  Susan and Fred are very involved with their church, 3Circle Midtown.

    Susan is also involved with the ACS Making Strides Walk every October.  She also enjoys going to Alabama football games and spending time with family and friends.

  • Kathy Huey Executive Assistant 68 Ventures

    Kathy serves as an Executive Assistant for 68 Ventures LLC.  Among the duties for this position, the one most important is that of supporting this company’s purpose, vision and overall values as set forth in the 68 Ventures mission statement.

    A native of Mobile, Kathy graduated from McGill-Toolen Catholic High School and attended Spring Hill College.  The eastern shore has been home to Kathy and her family for the last 20 years.  She and her husband Leland enjoy spending time with their families, traveling, fishing and time on Mobile Bay.  Kathy and Leland attend 3 Circle Church in Fairhope.

  • Charles Schetter President and CEO Truland Homes
    A senior executive and strategic leader with a record of driving operational excellence and execution in the home building industry, Charles weathered difficult economic conditions and delivered profits through the entire business cycle. In his 27-year tenure with McKinsey & Company, Inc., Charles advised global Fortune 500 CEOs and leadership teams in various sectors on developing successful growth strategies, improving operations and enhancing profitability. He founded/built McKinsey’s worldwide Healthcare practice (one of the Firm’s largest practices today) and served as Southern California Managing Director.

    As CEO at Smith Douglas Homes, Charles established a solid financial foundation with $175 million in three year bank lines with uniform covenants, expanded its footprint from Atlanta to include Raleigh, Charlotte, Nashville and Birmingham, launching its position as one of the strongest private regional builders in the US. He increased closing volume by 2.5x and tripled revenue with top quartile profitability.

    Before, Charles served as President of Hearthstone, one of the largest residential real estate investors in the U.S., managing over $1 billion in assets. where he returned the company (whose funding/assets were being pulled away) to profitability. He enhanced investor confidence in the company’s future; retained/grew the book of business; grew revenue generation from 2013 to 2015 by attracting new funding from major Wall Street firms; and delivered $10MM in asset management earnings.

    As co-founder and SVP, Landstone Communities/Hearthstone, Charles delivered profitable growth through the acquisition/development of 9 major residential projects in the Western US and FL. He leveraged $400MM received from a pension fund upon creation of KB Home/ Hearthstone JV and augmented the number of projects with funds secured from another pension fund.

    Serving as SVP, Business Development at KB Home, Charles drove profitable geographic expansion (19 to 27 markets) and led re-entry into Ventura County, CA through developing a $300 million finished lot pipeline. Before, he served in leadership roles at McKinsey, leading significant and profitable growth as well as serving on the Firm’s most important personnel committees.

    Charles served as Board Lead Director, California Coastal Communities and is a Trustee of Viewpoint School, CA., one of the four largest K-12 schools in the state, where he has chaired Strategic Planning for the last seven years. He has an MBA from the Amos Tuck School of Business and a BA in Economics and Math from Dartmouth. Charles served nine years on the Tuck Board of Overseers and led with Dean the work to reposition the Business School to the number one position in the Wall Street Journal rankings. He was named one of Tuck’s most distinctive graduates by the Wall Street Journal.

    Charles developed his deep passion for homebuilding during his twelve years working with his father in the family’s custom home business in Carmel, CA.

  • Will Lowery President TerraCore Development Services

    As President of TerraCore Development Services, Will is responsible for leading the land development arm under the 68 Ventures umbrella of companies. This includes managing all land development projects for 68 Ventures and its affiliated investors through the entire development process from start to finish, including land acquisition, due diligence, engineering design, entitlement, construction, and underwriting. TerraCore Development Services has approximately 1,000 lots currently under construction at any given time and operates from Mobile County, AL east to Bay County, FL.

    Will grew up in Birmingham, AL before enrolling at the University of Alabama, where he was a member of the football team from 2008-2011. He was a contributor on two NCAA Division 1 National Championship teams (2009, 2011), receiving numerous individual accolades, including Academic All-SEC Honors in 2009 and 2010, and ultimately earning a scholarship after originally walking-on to the team.  Will graduated with a bachelor’s degree in finance in 2012, and spent a semester pursuing a Master’s in Sports Management at Alabama before being drawn to the real estate industry and joining Battle Plan Capital (now 68Ventures) in 2013. After gaining a few years of experience, Will returned to school at Auburn University and obtained his Masters in Real Estate Development (MRED) in the spring of 2018, while simultaneously continuing to serve in his role as President of 68V Development Services.

    Will is happily married to his high school sweetheart, Marlo, and they have a daughter named Parker. He enjoys playing golf, attending live sporting events, and spending time with his family and friends. Will and his family are members of Three Circle Church in Fairhope.

  • Sam Haginas President FiveStone Strategic Alliances

    Sam serves as President of FiveStone Strategic Alliances which focuses on developing new joint venture partnerships.  He has over 15 years of industry experience in Finance, Real Estate, and Technology.

    A native of Mobile, AL, Sam attended the University of Alabama, earning a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration while playing Basketball and went on to play professionally in Europe.  He enjoys spending time traveling, paddle boarding, playing beach volleyball and scuba diving.

  • Gerritt Gordon President Crucible Construction

    Gerritt is a native of South Alabama, born and raised in Mobile. After attending UMS-Wright, he graduated from the University of Alabama Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration.

    From 2003 through 2016, Gerritt held positions within the multi-family development management, construction and property damage repair industries. A majority of this time was focused on managing and growing a regional firm into a national service provider. The firms primary focus was disaster response to natural and manmade events. Gerritt grew up working with and assisting his father on job sites building and remodeling commercial and residential structures.

    Outside of his steadfast commitment to the 68 Ventures family, Gerritt’s passions include the outdoors, music, his wife Katie and two wildcat sons. The boys provide ample opportunity to hone his hands-on building damage repair skills throughout his home. He and his family currently reside in Spanish Fort and are members of Spanish Fort United Methodist Church.

  • Chris Bailey Limitless Division President Truland Homes

    Chris serves as Division President for Limitless by Truland Homes.  He graduated from the University of Mobile with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management in 2004.  After graduation, Chris worked at a computer software company while he dreamed of building quality custom homes for families. He made those dreams a reality when he started his own custom home building business in 2005. An accomplished entrepreneur, Chris has over 13 years of professional custom home building experience. He is excited to continue his passion for delivering exceptional results and joining the Truland Home team.

    Chris is highly motivated and dedicated to customizing your home to fit your needs precisely. He knows that if you have a dream, the possibilities are truly limitless.  Chris enjoys spending time and making memories with his wife, Elizabeth, and their daughter Mary Pierson Bailey.   • Jeff Weston President Trulend Mortgage

    Jeff Weston is the Senior Vice President of Retail Operations for GMFS Mortgage and has over 25 years of mortgage lending experience. In this role, Mr. Weston also acts as the managing liaison for our Trulend Mortgage team with the primary responsibility of developing the Trulend Mortgage Sales and Operations staff.

    A native of Mobile, Alabama, Jeff graduated from Millsaps College in Jackson, MS, earning a BBA in Finance in 1990. Mr. Weston is a founding member of GMFS Mortgage, founded in 1999, which now employs more the 250 team members, is licensed in 18 states and serves over 89,000 customers. Leading the GMFS Mortgage team as Senior Vice President of Retail Operations, GMFS has received national recognition from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and The Scotsman’s Guide. GMFS has also been named one of Ask A Lender’s Best Mortgage Companies for 2018 and The Baton Rouge Business Report’s Best Places to Work for 2016, 2017 & 2018. Jeff currently resides in Baton Rouge, Louisiana with his wife Lissa, one son, and two daughters.

  • Troy Wilson President Bellator Real Estate & Development

    A native of Mobile, Troy graduated from the University of South Alabama’s Mitchell College of Business, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in 1999. He is an active member of the Baldwin County Association of REALTORS®, where he has served since 2015 and is the current President-Elect and member of the Finance Committee. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Gulf Coast MLS, SEEDS (Supporting Educational Enrichment in Daphne Schools), and several advisory committees for local charities.

    Troy and Nathan Cox partnered in 2011 when Troy merged his former brokerage, ERA Platinum Properties, with Nathan’s Bellator Real Estate & Development. Troy founded ERA Platinum Properties in 2008 following a four-year tenure as qualifying broker for another ERA office in Daphne, AL. During his time with the ERA Franchise Systems he was recognized as #40 in Lore Magazine’s Top 200 Real Estate Professionals of the Year. In 2014, Troy was recognized as one of Mobile Bay Magazine’s 40 under 40.

    Troy’s extensive career in real estate began in new construction sales at the Mitchell Company in Mobile, where he became the Regional Sales Manager and qualifying broker for its single-family division at age 24. In his eight years at Mitchell, Troy managed the sales and construction starts of over 900 homes in 27 residential communities in both Mobile and Baldwin counties. He also performed land selection, acquisition and market studies for nine new subdivisions developments while working at Mitchell. In 2005, Troy co-founded a land development company, Royale Development and a property management company, Baleu Realty Management. In 2007, Troy also started a residential home building company called St. Joe Custom Homes, in Mobile, AL.

    Today, Troy lives in Spanish Fort with his wife, Kristin, and daughters, MacKenzie and Addeline. He enjoys spending time outdoors with his family, boating, hunting, fishing and competing in endurance triathlon events.

  • Geoff Stacey COO Bellator Real Estate & Development

    Geoff Stacey serves as Chief Operations Officer for Bellator Real Estate & Development. He joined the Bellator team in March 2011 during the merger with ERA Platinum Properties, where he held a similar position. His primary responsibility is to manage the productivity of the brokers, agents and staff to achieve company growth and profitability objectives.

    Geoff has worked in the Real Estate industry since 2003 as a sales agent/manager, broker associate, property manager and company operations director. Geoff began his career in real estate after 11 years of experience working with Stacey & Associates Market Research, where he served as a business consultant and project leader on over 30 economic development and real estate feasibility projects across the Southeast.

    Geoff’s expertise is in strategic planning, implementation of operational systems and management of accounting/budgeting processes.

    Born and raised in Mobile, Alabama, Geoff has spent the majority of his life living on the Gulf Coast. After graduating from the University of Alabama in 1993, he moved back to the area to begin his career. He currently resides in Daphne with his wife Meghan and his three boys, Braxton, Lochlan and Kelan.

    Geoff is a past President of the University of Alabama Alumni Association – Mobile Chapter, a donor to the UA School of Arts & Sciences and has served as a campaign committee member for several local elected officials. During his free time, Geoff enjoys coaching youth soccer, cooking and spending time with his wife and kids. Geoff and his family are members of Christ the King Catholic Church and are active volunteers at Christ the King Catholic School and Bayside Academy.

  • Charlie Dodson President Align Insurance Group

    Charlie Dodson serves as President of Align Insurance Group. After receiving his Bachelor of Arts from Hampden-Sydney College, he was hired as a Commercial Lines Producer with Molton, Allen, & Williams Insurance Agency out of Birmingham. In 2008, Charlie was the first to join Bellator Real Estate and has been working in the new construction sales since. The relationships and knowledge he gained in the residential market opened the opportunity for him to continue to serve his clients and community by specializing in personal lines insurance.

    Charlie and his wife, Natalie, have two daughters, Sally (7) and Ann Charles (4) and they are active members in Ashland Place United Methodist Church.

  • Jason Barnes President Southeast Plumbing & Leak Detection

    Honesty, integrity and dependability aren’t just Jason Barnes’ core values, they are also the words others would use to describe him in business and in life. Barnes is the founder and president of Southeast Plumbing and Leak Detection, LLC. In 2000, Barnes completed his Associate’s degree from Southeast School of Technology in computer-aided drafting – only to discover his knack for plumbing and leak detection working as a tradesman in 2002.

    Receiving his certification as a Master Plumber and Gas Fitters License, and knowing he had the experience and knowledge needed, he went on to start his own business in 2007 in Daphne, Alabama – and now runs a thriving plumbing and leak detection, multi-employee business that services Alabama and Florida.

    When Barnes isn’t servicing his clients and heading a thriving business, he can be found rooting for LSU sports teams, hunting, fishing and creating memories with his wife, Shannon, and two children, Grayden and Savannah.

    Jason Tunnell is the owner and operator of BCC Waste Solutions and serves as President and CEO. In 2015 Jason, a veteran of the United States Air Force, completed the acquisition of Baldwin Container Company’s assets and operations. Under this new leadership, BCC Waste Solutions has continued to service existing clients and target regional waste management opportunities. With over 20 years of experience across various industries, he focuses his day-to-day efforts on developing new business and creating a better customer experience, inspiring his team to understand why we do what we do.

    A native of Florida, growing up along the Gulf Coast, Jason joined the United States Air Force in 1992. Following his service, Jason spent the next several years working in business development roles with AAdvantage North American and Aggreko, LLC where he honed his skills as relationship-focused, problem solver. At 40 years old, he decided to return to college and finish his degree from Troy University. Jason is an avid outdoorsman, enjoys distance running and loves spending time with his family enjoying activities in locations that have no cell or internet services.

Your 68 is derived from the jersey number worn by hockey legend Jaromir Jagr during his illustrious career.

Jagr’s grandfather was killed in 1968 during the Russian invasion of Czechoslovakia, so he wore the number 68 to honor his grandfather and his entire country every time he took the ice. Jagr was great because he didn’t play for money or medals – he played for his family and his country.

We take great pride in challenging not only one another, but also everyone we work with to seek out, identify and pursue their own 68.
