Nathan is the founder and Chairman of 68 Ventures (68V), a development and investment company headquartered in Daphne, Ala., that is defined by its culture and fueled by a team of purpose-driven high performers. It has a strong track record, resulting in it becoming one of the largest developers within the region, deploying well over a billion dollars in capital across multiple asset classes and the successful creation, acquisition, and exit of numerous operating companies.
His business career launched in 2008 when he founded Bellator Real Estate & Development, growing it to the biggest brokerage firm on the Alabama Gulf Coast prior to selling his interest in 2024. Nathan started Truland Homes in 2011, which closed more than 3,300 homes on its way to being acquired by D.R. Horton in 2023. 68V has also developed over 10,000 single-family lots to date and is the largest supplier for D.R. Horton’s Gulf Coast region. The 68V portfolio is comprised of 8 operating companies and over 100 investment entities.
As Chairman, he serves as the leader, visionary, and culture driver for the organization.
Nathan graduated from the University of Alabama summa cum laude in investment finance and economics, then earned his MBA from the University of South Alabama. He played football at the University of Alabama while earning Academic All-SEC Honors, was recognized with the Paul “Bear” Bryant Award his senior year as the university’s most outstanding student-athlete, and was later presented with the Economics, Finance, and Legal Studies Alumni Leadership Award.
Upon graduation, Nathan became a Rifle Platoon Commander with 3rd Bn 6th Marines and during his deployment in Iraq was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal with combat “V” for Valor as a 1st Lieutenant in recognition of his actions while in combat.
Nathan is passionate about spending time with his wife (Kimberly) and their three children (Savannah, Scarlett, and Luke) – plus their four dogs (Paws, Shelby, Axe, and Luna). He is an avid traveler, but there is nowhere he’d rather be most days than his home in Daphne, AL, looking out over Mobile Bay. He also enjoys exercising, reading, studying successful people, seeking out challenges of any kind, leading charitable endeavors alongside his father, and staying active in the Young Presidents’ Organization and the University of Alabama via serving on the Culverhouse College of Business Board of Visitors.
NATHAN’S LEADERSHIP PHILOSOPHY
Nathan believes that if you align yourself with incredible people, put their needs ahead of your own, and are willing to outwork everyone, then good things will happen. He strives to live out his personal purpose statement, “To see all I can do with all that I have been given by always going for it, never settling, and remaining true to who I am while striving to be a creator and not a taker. On judgment day, my life will have been deemed a success because I will be able to say, ‘I have nothing left. I used everything you gave me.’”
